The Rings Are The Thing

Anyone who knows me knows that humongous earrings were my ‘thing.’ When I was pregnant and still working in a jewelry store, I often assisted customers who said, “well, it’s just that I haven’t been able to wear long earrings since having a baby. Do you have any studs?”

At the time, I swore on my life that I would not turn into a tiny earring wearing lady post baby. Nothing, and I meant nothing would make me turn a blind eye to my collection of large earrings.

But then I had a baby. A grabby baby. Soooo maybe swearing on my life was a bit drastic. Because a couple of hard tugs on an earring by those little baby paws that are shockingly strong, and I knew that all but the smallest of my earrings were to be tucked away for another day. As were my collection of long necklaces. Swingy pendants that, with one lean over to plant a kiss ends with a small thunk to baby’s forehead. Long chains that, when baby is rubbing her face in your chest scratch her little nose — well, you get the idea. These all must go.

Basically, I had to re-vamp my entire idea of accessorizing. And I loooove a good accessory. To the point that I learned how to metalsmith and started my own, wee little jewelry company, Vagabond.

Anyhoo, long story short. I am now a stud wearer. And more noticeably, a ring wearer. Rings upon rings upon rings. Pile them on I say!

Then maybe you’ll be less sad about the mountains of unworn jewelry collecting dust at home. Or maybe that’s just me. The mountains, that is. So here are my current favorite stacks. Some are made by me, one by a local jewelry artist, my engagement/wedding bands were made by an artist on etsy, and one was a thrift store find.
